It was all plain sailing…

Our first trip for some considerable time – 5 nights aboard Cunard Queen Elizabeth

Upon arrival at Southampton, everything was extremely well organised.   We underwent a lateral flow test for covid and eagerly awaited the confirmation to our phones.  Within 20 minutes – we had the results and were good to go.  Queen Elizabeth was sailing at just 55% occupancy ensuring that there was lots of space everybody.  The ship looked fabulous and the entire team throughout our trip were wonderful.

Admittedly some things had to be different – masks in enclosed spaces such as walking around the ship and on an evening in the theatre, but fortunately many things remained just as good as before.  The cabins was lovely with a fabulous private balcony.  We were blessed with the weather throughout the trip between 14 and 17 degrees with blue skies.  We even managed breakfast one morning on there – bliss.

Over the 5 days, 3 were spent at sea and 2 were spent in Amsterdam – our first trip abroad for over 18 months – more on that destination however on my next blog.

Dining within the Britannia restaurant was very well organised with an extensive menu.  Indeed it never fails to impress me just how they can deliver dining to such a standard for so many people – on this occasion c 1000 guests.

We have to add that the Gym was great too – and oh what views.  We needed a few visits there based on the wonderful meals that we enjoyed!

All of the areas around the ship from the Commodores club where we enjoyed pre dinner drinks and sometimes post dinner too to the coffee lounges, theatre and casino were immaculate.

We would confidently recommend cruising with Cunard during these times.  Like many we were a little apprehensive however the voyage surpassed our expectations.

Our only negative comment was that the trip just wasn’t long enough.  Here’s to the next one!
