One cannot fail to be captivated as you pass through the gatehouse and approach Peckforton castle protected by a Portcullis. A simply stunning location in Cheshire where you are quite simply transported back to another world.
We were visiting for simply an overnight stay however clearly the wedding party were here to celebrate something even more special!
A medieval castle which opened in 2001 as a hotel. The property was one of the first venues to be licensed for civil ceremonies. Undoubtedly the hotel is proving incredibly popular for weddings. Ceremonies are impressive and the rings can even be delivered by a Falcon!
Eat, Sleep, Love and Play are the words used to promote this unique venue.
During our visit we met guests who were there on the driving experience with Landrover plus a group of Ladies on a peaceful retreat in the Spa. The hotel is also popular with guests enjoying afternoon tea or dining in one of the hotel restaurants.
In the afternoon we enjoyed a wonderful woodland walk and in the evening dined in the 1851 Restaurant, a restaurant that holds 3 AA Rosettes .
Peckforton Castle has just 48 bedrooms, each one individually furnished. Our suite provided modern day comforts but with a wonderful historic feel. A stunning wooden 4 poster, a sitting room with fire place and a luxurious bathroom. After a most comfortable evening, we took Breakfast back in 1851 restaurant – a hot buffet before heading off for a relatively short drive home, however feeling like we had been a million miles.
